Autonomous Vehicles
We have had a front-row seat to the origins and growth of the autonomous vehicle (AV) industry in the United States and globally. One of our founding members, Michael, was outside counsel to Perrone Robotics from the early days of the AV industry when a team organized by Paul Perrone, the Founder/CEO of Perrone Robotics, participated in the ground-breaking DARPA Grand Challenge and subsequently the DARPA Urban Challenge in 2004-2005. From 2016 to 2020 Michael was the Chief Legal Officer and VP of Operations of Perrone Robotics. Wave Law remains outside counsel to Perrone Robotics. While at a prior firm, Michael also represented a multinational corporation in its development and commercialization of autonomous surface mining trucks, and in its collaboration with a Fortune 500 company on developing electric power systems for autonomous mining trucks.

We have worked on the following types of transactions in the AV industry:
A collaboration agreement between a European OEM and an AV technology provider to develop an autonomous SUV.
A development and collaboration agreement between a manufacturer of heavy equipment and a multinational mining customer to develop autonomous mining trucks in a multi-year, multi-phase agreement.
A joint venture between an Asian OEM and a U.S.-based multinational to develop battery packs and electrical systems for autonomous vehicles.
Joint marketing and collaboration agreements between technology companies in the AV industry.
